Kingdom Hearts 2 5 Continue Keep Exp

ROXAS' EPISODE

THE 1ST DAY

You begin the game as Roxas, a teenager living in Twilight Town. You may remember seeing him during the credits of Kingdom Hearts 1 and Re: Chain of Memories, where Twilight Town is also featured.

This sequence serves as a basic tutorial for the controls. They work nearly identically to those in Kingdom Hearts 1. Of note is the ability to see your current objective by pressing cn_start.

After speaking with several shop keepers, lock on to the cat with cn_RB. More scenes will go by, and at the sandlot, you are required to make your first real choice: which Struggle weapon to choose. You can have Roxas speak to all of the other characters here first for some brief dialogue. Choose a weapon to instigate a fight against Seifer. Roxas' base stats are as follows: Strength 5, Magic 6, and Defense 2.

The star rod on the left grants a permanent Magic +1.

The sword in the center grants a permanent Defense +1.

The club on the right grants a permanent Strength +1.

This is a fairly simple one-on-one battle. Seifer only has one special attack, where he floats up into the air, then attacks on a downward diagonal. Roxas has plenty of time to move out of the way of this attack. Defeating Seifer starts a cutscene, and then Roxas is transported to The Woods area. Chase the white creature all the way to The Old Mansion, then use the cn_Y Capture command to start a fight against it.

The creature cannot be damaged by the Struggle weapon, but take note of the cn_Y Reversal Reaction Command. Roxas spins around behind the creature, giving him a couple of seconds to attack while it is confused. Keep attacking the creature until a brief scene occurs, where the Struggle weapon digitizes into the Kingdom Key. With Keyblade in hand, defeat the mysterious enemy using a combination of regular attacks and the Reversal command.

The creature drops all of the pictures that were stolen, and the word photo is returned as well. View more scenes until the end of the day.

THE 2ND DAY

Roxas can now use Save Points and receives the Twilight Town Map. The mini-map is a new addition in Kingdom Hearts 2, and is viewable in the top right corner of the screen. For the purpose of this guide, compass directions (North, South, East, and West) will refer to the mini-map. Roxas is currently in the Back Alley, next to The Usual Spot. The south exit is unusable at this point, so head north (maybe use the skateboard?) to reach Market Street: Station Heights.

After some quick conversation, you gain access to the main menu, although a truncated version of it. Press cn_start to see the menu. Status shows basic information such as level, experience, and stats, Journal gives a quick summary of the situation and the current objective, and Config allows you to change various game settings such as camera controls and menu aesthetics.

Roxas' goal, for now, is to gain at least 200 munny. You can earn more, but the game automatically continues once Roxas' total reaches 2000.

There are three different jobs available, and they can be selected from the Help Wanted board that Roxas starts in front of. Each job/mini-game is described below. I recommend trying each job at least once before continuing.

There are several people to speak to in the Station Heights area, but Roxas can also visit the Tram Common area by leaving via the eastern exit, or the Station Plaza via the northern exit. There is no reason to visit the Station Plaza until after Roxas earns his munny.

There are five targets to deliver letters to; three humans and two birds.

Time Goal Reward
00:20 or less 50 munny
Between 00:21 and 01:30 30 munny
01:31 or more 10 munny

This job is relatively simple. Attack the large bag of cargo to push it up the hill. After three combos, the bag will jump into the air. Hit it while airborne to gain significant distance. Once at the top of the hill, continue to hit the bag until it fully enters the garage.

Time Goal Reward
00:30 or less 50 munny
Between 00:31 and 01:00 30 munny
01:01 or more 10 munny

While in theory very simple, this job can be difficult for some players. The goal is to keep the small white ball airborne for as long as possible. There are two tricks to keep in mind. First, use target lock with cn_RB to focus the camera on the ball at all times. Second, don't use cn_B to jump towards the ball. Just use cn_A, and Roxas will do a jump attack on his own. Each three-hit combo will spike the ball back up into the air, allowing Roxas to repeat the combo.

You have five attempts to get a high score. As you can see by the rewards below, continuing your attack chain past 20 hits is a waste of time. Only continue if you want to brag to your friends about your high score.

Hit Goal Reward
20 or higher 50 munny
Between 5 and 19 hits 30 munny
4 hits or fewer 10 munny

The Tram Common area has more people to talk to, and another Help Wanted board, complete with new jobs. Again, they are detailed below.

Along the south wall of the Tram Common is a small area with an old man and three piles of trash. This is the location of the Junk Sweep job. Destroy all three piles to earn 15 munny. These piles respawn each time Roxas leaves and re-enters the Tram Common, making this a decent location to earn munny if the mini-games at the Help Wanted board aren't your style.

There are other exits from this area, to the east and south, but Roxas cannot use them at this time. Feel free to explore Twilight Town, but there are no chests or other rewards for doing so.

Roxas is asked to put up 20 posters around town, and the faster he completes the job, the more munny he gets. There are well over 20 different places to put posters, so it is up to you to find a good route.

Time Goal Reward
01:30 or less 100 munny
Between 01:30 and 02:00 50 munny
02:01 or more 30 munny

Perhaps the most simple of the jobs, Roxas simply has to fight off some bees. There are four groups, and after taking them all out another four will spawn. It only takes three hits to defeat a swarm of bees. Roxas' reward is based on speed.

Time Goal Reward
00:20 or less 50 munny
Between 00:21 and 01:00 30 munny
01:01 or more 10 munny

The old man has hired Roxas to destroy a bunch of piles of junk. A basic three-hit combo will send a pile flying and destroy it. Any pile it comes into contact with will also be destroyed. Since the reward is based on the number of swings, you want to try and destroy as many piles in a single go as possible.

Hit Goal Reward
10 hits or fewer 50 munny
Between 11 and 14 hits 30 munny
15 hits or more 10 munny

Once Roxas has at least 200 munny, he can speak to Hayner at the Station Plaza to proceed. Waiting until you have at least 1200 munny earns Roxas an additional award. Roxas can continue to earn munny beyond this point, to a maximum of 2000, at which point the game automatically continues.

Earn at least 200 munny to earn an AP +1.

Earn at least 1200 munny to earn an AP +2.

During the scenes with Hayner, Pence, and Olette, Roxas obtains the Munny Pouch item, then promptly loses it.

THE 3RD DAY

Leave the Usual Spot and head to Station Heights. The scenes bring Roxas to the open area where he first fought Seifer. This time, he has to fight some more of those mysterious white enemies. After attempting this fight, Roxas is brought to the Station of Serenity within the Dive to the Heart.

This functions exactly like the sequence from Kingdom Hearts 1. The Sword, Shield, and Staff unlock abilities at different levels as Roxas (and eventually Sora) level up. Please see the KH2: Mechanics page for a full list of these abilities and when they unlock.

Unlike the first game, there are no unique abilities tied to this choice.

Beginner/Standard: The Staff gives you the Experience Boost ability early. Since you are most likely attempting to hit level 99 on one of these difficulties, having Experience Boost as soon as possible is recommended.

Proud/Critical: I recommend picking the Shield for this run. While Leaf Bracer is unlocked at level 20 for each choice, Shield grants earlier access to Once More (level 25) and Second Chance (level 49).

After selecting a weapon, defeat the three enemies. Open the chest that spawns nearby for a Potion. You can now access the Items, Abilities, and Customize sections of the main menu. These should be familiar to you from KH1.

Note that the Damage Control Ability is part of the Kingdom Key, and does not cost any AP.

Use the save point if you wish, then head through the doors to the Station of Calling. Follow the path up the platforms, defeating enemies and opening the second chest for another Potion. Note that the enemies will occasionally drop Potions as well, although Roxas can only ever hold three at a time.

The door at the top of the platforms leads to the first true boss battle. If you return to the Station of Serenity, however, the few enemies here will respawn, allowing for a small amount of experience farming. I recommend doing this at least once, to get the additional Strength upgrade at level 3.

Boss: Twilight Thorn

Use reaction commands and defeat the mysterious enemy!

Twilight Thorn acts as a fairly competent tutorial boss. During the first sequence, wait for reaction commands to use Key Counter, Lunarsault, and Break Raid. After this, Roxas can fight the Twilight Thorn normally.

From this point on, it is only a matter of using cn_Y Reversal to avoid attacks, and attack the head of the Twilight Thorn. More enemies will spawn during this battle. They are very annoying, but drop large HP orbs upon defeat, so don't ignore them completely.

The following scenes are just a bunch of teen drama.

THE 4TH DAY

It's the Struggle and Title Match!

Roxas begins in the Sandlot, but he can leave this area and explore the rest of Twilight Town. This includes performing jobs for some munny, although the only items available for purchase are Potions and Tents. The only area that is off-limits is the forest and by extension the mansion at the end of the path.

There is a save point in the Sandlot, but Roxas can also use the one in The Usual Spot. In the Back Alley, Roxas can challenge Seifer to a street brawl. This works exactly like the initial fight against him, except now Roxas is a bit stronger.

When you are ready, speak with the Struggle promoter in the ring to engage in the first battle. In order to win a Struggle Match, Roxas needs to live long enough to run out the timer while also holding more orbs than his opponent. Roxas' first opponent is Hayner.

Also, it is important to mention that if Roxas loses a Struggle match, the game lets you immediately try again. If you are having trouble, it might be worth your time to spend a few attempts learning how each opponent moves and attacks before making another serious attempt.

Boss: Hayner

The best way to defeat Hayner is to run around and attack after he misses Roxas. A three-hit combo will cause him to lose a large number of orbs. Once Roxas has a good enough lead, you can have him run around the outside of the area until the time runs out.

Roxas and Hayner watch the next match, and then you are given another chance to save before doing Roxas' next fight.

Boss: Vivi

Despite the previous cutscene, Vivi isn't all that fast. His attacks have amazing reach, however. Stay on the move, and be ready to Guard against attacks. It is more important to have more orbs than Vivi, not to fully defeat him.

After defeating Vivi, Roxas will have to face three more mysterious enemies. A new black-cloaked figure will appear and challenge Roxas to an actual, real battle.

Boss: Axel

Axel uses a combination of melee and ranged attacks in combat. There is only one unique attack to actively watch out for. Axel will cloak himself in flame, and then throw multiple fiery shurikens at Roxas. They can all be blocked with Guard.

Once time returns to normal, Roxas can take on Setzer as the final fight in the tournament. This is unique amongst the fights as you can lose, and the reward, an Accessory, is different depending on whether or not you win.

For winning, Roxas gains the Championship Belt, armor that increases resistance to Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder elements. Losing to Setzer, however, unlocks a Medal, which gives a permanent Strength +1 effect. I believe the Belt is the better option, but it is your decision. Both results award Roxas a "The Struggle" Trophy item.

Boss: Setzer

Of all the fights in this sequence, Setzer is perhaps the easiest. Get a few good hits in, and Setzer will stand there, stunned, allowing Roxas to swing away.

Regardless of whether or not Roxas wins against Setzer, this series of events ends, and more cutscenes will play.

THE 5TH DAY

Go to the Station Plaza and enter the train station to reach a new area, Sunset Station. There is a save point on the platform to Roxas' left as you gain control. Speaking with Pence clears Wonder #1: The Spooky Steps.

Walk down the steps to Sunset Terrace, and then ascend the steps to the right to find a train car. It moves back and forth on a very short path. Jump onto the top of the car, and then over to the top of a pillar that has a chest on it. Open the chest for an Ability Ring.

Jump down to the south to find a second chest, and open it for a Potion. Return to where Pence is standing, and take the staircase heading north. There is a small alleyway here that Roxas can interact with. This starts a brief sequence where Roxas has to move to the end of the alleyway while avoiding orbs that shoot out from the wall. This clears Wonder #2: The Friend from Beyond the Wall.

Head straight west from this location to find a bridge that crosses a small water feature. There is a tunnel to the north that Roxas can investigate. Inside the tunnel, fight off a total of 14 Vivis (they only take one hit) to clear Wonder #3: The Moans from the Tunnel.

Leave the tunnel and cross over the small bridge to the west. There is a chest to the right on the other side that holds a Hi-Potion. Continue to the west and up some stairs next to an exit to find a regular Potion in another chest. Jump down to find Olette walking around next to an empty lot. Approach the waterfall here to Investigate.

Face the Shadow Roxas in combat, then view the scene with Pence to clear Wonder #4: The Doppelganger. Take the exit to the west to reach Sunset Hill.

Climb the ramp to the top of the hill, and investigate the bag. This begins a brief game where Roxas must ride the bag around the area. If the bag hits one of the trash cans, Roxas is thrown off. If you mash cn_Y, you are pretty much guaranteed to hit the reaction command to cn_Y Jump over the trash cans and keep riding. After wearing down the entire stamina bar (viewable in the top left corner of the screen) the game ends. This clears Wonder #5: The Animate Bag.

After gaining control of Roxas again, return to Sunset Hill. The gang will return to Station Plaza in Twilight Town proper, and Roxas will decide to visit the haunted mansion. The day ends after a bunch more scenes.

THE 6TH DAY

Leave the Usual Spot for a battle against some more mysterious white enemies, and a new creature. Make your way to the Old Mansion, defeating enemies as you go. Roxas arrives at the Mansion Foyer.

Head straight through, between the two staircases, to find a Hi-Potion in a chest. The doorway to the west leads to the Mansion Dining Room, and there are two chests in here. Open them both for a Potion and an Elven Bandanna.

If you received the Champion Belt from the Struggle Championship, it is by far the better armor. If you went for the Strength Medal, go ahead and equip the Elven Bandana now.

Return to the Foyer and ascend the western steps to the second floor, taking the Potion from the chest as you go. Enter the door here to reach Naminé's room. Roxas obtains Naminé's Sketches here, as well as the Mansion Map. A Save Point appears in this room as well.

Leave the White Room and follow the pathway along the north wall as it heads east. There is a chest halfway down this path with a Potion. Enter the door on the east side of the second floor to reach the Mansion Library. Roxas automatically uses Naminé's Sketches to reveal a secret area beneath the floor. Take the Hi-Potion from the chest, then descend through the other door.

There is a scene in the Computer Room, and a Save Point once it is over. Continue to descend into the Basement Hall via the door. There is another combat against some mysterious enemies, and immediately afterwards, a boss battle.

Boss: Axel

Roxas summons Oathkeeper and Oblivion to aid in this fight. Axel is a lot quicker this time around, but with Potions and Hi-Potions you should be more than able to stay alive for the whole fight.

When Axel leaves the arena, start mashing cn_Y. There is a reaction command, Burst Frontier, that only pops up for half a second when Axel attacks. It chains into Overtaker, and then Clear Light. This trio of reactions will get rid of the fire effect on the floor, if not the barrier.

Watch out for the fire pillars that Axel summons as well. They can pop up anywhere, including in his space, which deals damage to Roxas. He continues to throw out flaming chakram, so be prepared to Guard against them.

The north door leads back to the Computer Room, so take the west door to the Basement Corridor. The scene shows a chest, so open it for a Hi-Potion and then take the only other door to the final room. After watching the scenes, you unlock an Achievement.

  • Summer's End

    Complete Roxas's episode.

    Summer's End

That's it for Roxas' episode. When you next gain control of a character, it will be Sora, in the real Twilight Town. Head to the next page, KH2: Twilight Town, to continue!
